High-End Web Design Publication and Community, ~4,200,000 pageviews

Stylegala.com web design community screenshotI almost didn’t notice that stylegala.com is up for sale at SitePoint. It’s a highly popular web design community with lots of traffic. In the sales thread it says that there is about 4,200,000 monthly pageviews from 900,000 visits. There is of course also revenue which is about $2500 a month.

Well, it’s a very interesting website and there is too much about it for me to write about here. So check out the sales thread. Remember that such a site will take a lot of maintenance.

There has also been some buzz about this on various blogs.

It’s on auction with a starting bid of $30,000 which has already been made, also a $36,000 has been made. But that’s still a steal since the website is worth a lot more.

Pennsylvania Directory, Classifieds and Event Website. ~$3000 monthly revenue

It’s been quite a while since my last post and I regret that. I’ve been so busy that I just couldn’t find the time to write here. Also I find that there has not been as many interesting websites for sale as usually. I often first saw the good ones when they where almost already sold.

Enough about that because there’s a decent website for sale at SitePoint. The website is www.butlerwebs.com and has a steady income and lots of traffic. According to seller it makes about $3000 a month where the $2000 is through adsense. Regarding the traffic he states that there is around 15-20,000 unique visitors daily.

The fact that there’s several recent blog posts which links to the website makes me believe that it’s true. Just try and search for the website on technorati and you’ll see them.

It’s an auction and the bidding starts at $26,000, which it definitely must be worth.

Drink Recipes Website for Sale, 400,000+ monthly pageviews

mydrinkrecipes.com drink recipes website screenshotOn SitePoint and DigitalPoint there is a site called MyDrinkRecipes.com for sale. It’s a rather popular drink recipes website with 400,000+ monthly pageviews done by approx. 4,000 daily unique visitors.

By checking out the stats provided in the sales threads I found that there is definitely space for improvements regarding SEO for Google. The website receives only a little percentage of the overall search engine traffic from Google, which I believe doesn’t reflect the actual amount of searches on each individual search engine.

Another thing I found, that I believe all potential buyers should look into is that about 80% of the sessions doesn’t have a referrer. This is a little odd, but maybe the seller can clarify the issue. It could be that there are that many regular visitors, but I don’t think that is possible.

This website is for sale on auction with a starting bid of $3,000 and a BIN price of $6,500, which seems a little bit high considering that it makes on average $240 a month. And drinks websites doesn’t have any special growth potential - it takes hard work.

Popular Graphics Forum For Sale, ~225,000 pageviews a month

climb-x.com graphics forum screenshotThere is a graphics forum for sale on SitePoint. The URL for the forum is www.climb-x.com and it seems to be a very popular forum as the seller states. According to the visible forum stats on the website, there is almost 7.000 members and 90.000 posts.

In the sales thread on SitePoint the seller has written that there is ~225.000 pageviews a month. It also says that the site makes $700 a month. There is a lot more information in the sales thread, that I think you should check out.

It is on auction with a starting bid of $2000, and a suggested BIN of $6000, so it seems possible to grap this site for a decent price.

There is a very well populated forum at the PSP site with almost 60.000 members. The sites are large and a little bit hard to get a full understand of within short time, so I won’t go into further details. But if you’re interested in that kind of websites I think you should check it out.

Another MySpace Site for Sale with 110,000 monthly pageviews

myspace-place.com screenshotThere is another MySpace site for sale at SitePoint. This site is myspace-place.com which like the one I just mentioned has traffic of 110,000 monthly pageviews.

It also has revenue, but that is only ~$135 monthly through adsense, so it is only earning a third compared to the other MySpace site. So I guess that any buyers should take this into consideration. Since the two sites are alike, it is very possible that by looking at the best performing site, one could improve this site to earn much more than it currently does.

Another interesting thing about this site, is that 50% of the traffic is coming from search engines, according to seller. And most of the the other visits is through affiliates or they are returning visitors. So a buyer should consider if it is possible to gain traffic directly from peoples MySpace profiles.

The site is for sale on auction and the bidding starts at $1200.

Too many webmaster communities for sale

I honestly believe that there is too many webmaster communities for sale at the moment. There is like a new one up for sale every day. And almost everyone of them are very small with few visitors, members, posts, articles etc.

Why do some people create these, and why is there other ones buying these, when there is already a lot of large and very popular webmaster communities? It is really hard to bring something new to this area, and almost just as hard to create something as good. To succeed in creating a good, large and profitable webmaster community you would have to be blessed with some amazing marketing skills.

I think that the main reason for this, is that most of the people creating websites are into webmastering. So it is the obvious thing for them to create since they know about it. The people buying these communities are probably in the exact same situation.

This is what I found of webmaster communities for sale, by browsing about 10 days back in some forums.

And then there is this thread where someone wants to buy such forums for their userbase - which makes it pretty clear that it is hard to market such a site and get users. But this guy might be on to something - in some cases it is cheaper and easier to buy other sites to merge with your own than through organic growth.

But as stated I believe there is too many of them for sale. But they are certainly not the only kind of sites that there are too many of being for sale. I also see small image hosting and arcade sites for sale almost everyday.

The Blog Herald buyer was BlogMedia, Inc.

blogherald.com screenshotNow it is public who bought Blog Herald, and it was BlogMedia, Inc. I know that I’m not exactly right on time with this post, but I was travelling back home from Istanbul yesterday, and really needed some sleep, so I didn’t see it before now. But back to the sale..

Duncan will be posting for the next two months while BlogMedia gets their team started. This is an obvious thing for blog sales since most blogs are kind of personal, the original blogger will need to help the transition to be smooth.

The Price: The big question is what the price ended up being, but unfortunatly they won’t tell. All they say is that both parties believe it was a fair deal. It is hard to say what the price might have been, but some bloggers are guessing:

I personally guess it would be something like $30,000+, but probably not higher than $35,000, so my guess is much like Chartreuse. My reasons for believing this is that BlogMedia must have known about the first time Blog Herald was supposed to sell, and they didn’t buy it then. And also, I’ve been watching and participating in website auctions for a long time, and since the public bids at SitePoint ended at $25,000 I guess that the private bids haven’t been that much higher.

I’ve previously reported on the sale and the supposed sale:
