Search Results for ‘auction bidding’
It’s been quite a while since my last post and I regret that. I’ve been so busy that I just couldn’t find the time to write here. Also I find that there has not been as many interesting websites for sale as usually. I often first saw the good ones when they where almost already sold.
Enough about that because there’s a decent website for sale at SitePoint. The website is www.butlerwebs.com and has a steady income and lots of traffic. According to seller it makes about $3000 a month where the $2000 is through adsense. Regarding the traffic he states that there is around 15-20,000 unique visitors daily.
The fact that there’s several recent blog posts which links to the website makes me believe that it’s true. Just try and search for the website on technorati and you’ll see them.
It’s an auction and the bidding starts at $26,000, which it definitely must be worth.

There is a blog about web development, programming and standards for sale at SitePoint. The blog is digitalmediaminute.com and it should be earning around $500 a month from approx. 84.000 monthly. And 1000 daily pageviews should be coming from loyal readers - the seller states that there is ~600 subscribers of the RSS feed.
The seller has written a very good description: “This site is a weblog that consists of over 2400 posts. Each post is related to the subject area of web development, programming and standards. The site has a couple of extremely popular posts like my Character Entity Reference, Installing Rails on Fedora Core 4 and a list of top 12 Ruby On Rails Tutorials. This site is full of great content that ranks very high in Google.”
The blog is for sale on auction with the bidding to start at $10.000, which seems a little bit high, but I think it’s all about the valuation of loyal readers. Let’s just hope that the blog doesn’t have a too personal touch, which will make it hard to take over.

There is an online computer graphics publication for sale at SitePoint. The website is cgunderground.com and it seems very nice. According to seller there has been a monthly revenue of about $500 a month on average for the last three months. The revenue was generated through Adsense and by selling ad space.
The traffic varies on a month to month basis, but is approximately 175,000 monthly pageviews by 19,000 to 28,000 uniques.
The seller describes the site as: “CG Underground is an online computer graphics publication. The site offers to the visitors/members: Online Gallery, Tutorials, Industry news, Product Reviews, Interviews with artists around the world, Forums and a Free Profile section, where members may link to website URL, 6 images for portfolio, location, etc….”
The website is on auction with the bidding starting at $2,750 and the BIN is $5,800.

There is another MySpace site for sale at SitePoint. This site is myspace-place.com which like the one I just mentioned has traffic of 110,000 monthly pageviews.
It also has revenue, but that is only ~$135 monthly through adsense, so it is only earning a third compared to the other MySpace site. So I guess that any buyers should take this into consideration. Since the two sites are alike, it is very possible that by looking at the best performing site, one could improve this site to earn much more than it currently does.
Another interesting thing about this site, is that 50% of the traffic is coming from search engines, according to seller. And most of the the other visits is through affiliates or they are returning visitors. So a buyer should consider if it is possible to gain traffic directly from peoples MySpace profiles.
The site is for sale on auction and the bidding starts at $1200.

I just read a thread on DigitalPoint, where some users point out, that some guy that has been bidding up his own auctions using multiply user accounts. Numerous other users has ended up paying more for websites than what they probably had sold for.
It is a shame that such things go on, but it will probably always be like that, and it is really hard to catch such cheaters in time. So it is an obvious example of buyers to consider what they want to pay for given website, and stick to that. Don’t think that you’re missing out on something because there is several other bidders competing. Do your own valuation and do only buy for less than the value you conclude.
If you want to buy sites on auction and if you want the bidding to be real, then it is just because you want to make steal and buy it too cheap. Nothing wrong with that, but then you’d have to expect some people to try and drive up the bidding.

There is a really nice blog / website for sale at SitePoint - it is Unmatched Style, which I personally visit once in a while, and a site that some of you probably have visited.
The seller reports that there is around 9,000 daily uniques doing 25,000 pageviews a day. He also tells that the site has a revenue of $500-$900 a month through YPN and Amazon, with most of the revenue coming from YPN.
It is on auction - currently without a BIN - with a starting bid of $3,500. The bidding is already on the roll and as I’m writing this the current high bid is $4,000.
I think that the ads could get much more relavant with adsense, but I don’t know if replacing YPN with adsense would result in a higher revenue. The CTR with adsense would have to make up for the probably less paying ads compared to the current YPN ads. I guess it is worth trying.
This is absolutely an interesting site that I think you should check out if you’re into web design.

There is a tabs website (guitar, bass and drums) for sale at DigitalPoint (and NamePros). The website is hottesttabs.com and it should be receiving 5500+ uniques a day, according to seller.
There are stats and revenue screenshots in the thread, and it all seems pretty good. And I believe there is potential for improving the Adsense revenue from the website.
The bidding starts at $2600 and there is a $6000 BIN. I’m not sure it is worth $6000 since that is around two years of revenue. But of course there is the chance of buying it for less since it is an auction.
But potential buyers should be aware of potential legal issues. I’m not sure that there are any, but I recall some previous cases about lyrics and tabs websites.

I just spotted a webmaster & domain name forum for sale at NamePros. The forum itself seems pretty dead, but according to the statistics provided by the seller, there is a decent amount of traffic.
The forum is RealDN and it has a pagerank 4. In this month there has been around 13,000 uniques who did ~54,000 pageviews.
The seller wants the bidding to start of at $500, but he has a reserve, and mentions that the right offer will buy immediately. The auction will be for 7 days and seller will post a BIN in a couple of days.
This forum could be a good start to create a community, but remember that there is plenty of webmaster and domain forums already.
There are two things to notice. 1. Theres was a huge drop in traffic in November and December according to the stats. 2. There is a lot of links in the bottom, so the link popularity might be obtained through such link exchanges.

Jeremy Wright has the last couple of days been posting about a massive blog for sale that he was brokering. But it wasn’t made public which mystery blog it was, and the bidding was kept private.
Now it is public that the blog is The Blog Herald, which some people guessed over at Blogaholics. So it is going to be exciting to hear, who ends up having bought the blog. The current high bids are 60K, 65K and 72K.
I will post more on this, when there are some interesting news.
